Bio
Dan Elliot is originally from Canada but made the move to Japan immediately after graduating from university in 1998. Four years after coming to Japan, he opened the legendary Oasis Lounge in Osaka where he honed his skills and found his sound. From the incredible success of the “Oasis Lounge Sound” came many opportunities for Dan. As well as having his mixes featured on world-famous Frisky Radio, his live sets came into great demand taking him all over Japan and Thailand.
In 2008, following the success of Oasis Lounge, Dan started Oasis Radio, which came to be the most popular internet radio station featuring electronic music in Japan.
In the beginning, Dan mainly played house, progressive house, and techno...But, over time his sound has evolved to include lounge and chillout focused music that creates a "summer atmosphere". With this wide range of musical influences he never fails to bring that perfect mix of sound and vibe that always suits the situation and event.
Dan Elliot’s firm belief that music should be intelligent, inspiring and fun truly characterizes his passion for music and the way he plays.
Music
Dan Elliot's music tastes, track selection, and mixing style have certainly evolved over the years since he began DJing in 2003. He started out making dance-floor-focused mixes designed for night clubs, but over time, his musical influences changed and his sound expanded to include various genres of music.
Dan's evolution as a DJ has led him to create mixes that are now separated into the three categories shown below.
Beach House
The Beach House mix series features music that is more suited to a tropical beach, or pool party at a villa, than at a night club. The carefully selected tracks are a reflection of the many trips Dan has taken over the years to the beaches of Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries. Dan's love of coconut tree lined white sand beaches, and pool villas has deeply influenced him, and in 2014 he created a new soundscape which he calls "The Sounds of Summer".
Club Mixes
Dan Elliot started his journey as a DJ at Oasis Lounge, the sound bar that he built and operated for 4+ years in Osaka. It was at Oasis Lounge that he honed his DJing skills, found his original sound, and launched himself into the night club scene of Osaka. As Dan's following grew, he was invited to play at some of the biggest and most influential clubs in Osaka at the time, including Saza*e, Joule, Grand Cafe, Onzieme, Lunar Lounge, Seven Lounge, and many other venues and outdoor events in the Kansai Region. Also at this time, he traveled to Thailand every year, to spin at some of the best clubs in Koh Samui.
Radio Mixes
In 2009, Dan launched Oasis Radio - an Internet radio website, that featured monthly mixes by some of the best DJs in Japan, as well as top notch international DJs from around the world. In a very short time, Oasis Radio became the most popular Internet radio station in Japan with thousands of listeners from around the world. At that time, Dan developed a new style of DJ mix that is more suitable for radio listeners. These mixes feature deep house, chilled progressive house, and electronica tracks played at a slower tempo than his club style mixes. Tracks for each mix are carefully selected with a concept in mind that tells a story from beginning to end. Dan's goal is to take the discerning listener on a musical journey that can not be forgotten.
